About US
Teacher Jonathan is the founder of the English Refinement Center; he is half Vietnamese on his father’s side and half American on his mother’s side. He created the English Refinement Course to help Vietnamese students learn English and become bilingual like him. With his fluency in both English and Vietnamese, he built a program that focuses on the holistic learning of English. He’s been teaching for over 13 years and loves helping students understand English better!
Teacher Maycie was born and raised in America. She studied at Johnson University with Teacher Jonathan to become an English teacher. She’s visited Vietnam many times since she was 10 years old. She loves Vietnam and Vietnamese people and is thankful to teach English and help people gain more opportunities. She is currently trying to learn Vietnamese and relates to her students because learning a new language is hard! Teacher Maycie has been teaching Vietnamese students for over 7 years and loves sharing about cultures with her students.
Why Learn Through Stories?
Learning through stories is so valuable. We use stories for everything: sharing with friends and family, explaining a situation to your boss, teaching someone a new skill and most importantly getting to know others and telling others your story. When you learn English through stories, we get to practice speaking, pronunciation, grammar, and natural vocabulary! We discuss the story and focus on writing, culture, and critical thinking. By the end of our program you will have a library of relevant vocabulary, natural grammar and sentence structures, the ability to think critically, the knowledge of culture and the capability of talking to any foreigner in English with confidence.
